Research Management Section

1. Formulate plans and programs on fibercrops research and development agenda of the Agency.

2. Prepares/reviews/evaluates fiber crop research proposals for funding by the Agency and other institutions.

3. Conducts/implements fibercrop research projects/studies.

4. Prepares/submits yearly budget and work plan (Forms A, B, D, BP 201, BP 202, BED 1, 2 & 3) of the division including the regional research units;

5. Prepares/Consolidates and submit monthly/quarterly/semi-annual and annual reports of the division and regional research units;

6. Organizes In-House Fiber Crops Research Review and Planning Workshop; 

7. Coordinates the conduct of/participation in trainings of the Division and regional research personnel;

8. Prepares technical reports and information materials;

9. Undertakes field monitoring of activities and operations of the regional research units and facilities (experiment stations, tissue culture & diagnostic laboratories, sericulture and cotton centers);

10. Assists in the construction/rehabilitation/repair of central and regional research facilities.

11. Establishes and maintains linkages with SUCs and other R & D institutions

12. Extends technical assistance to clientele on fibercrop production; and

13. Performs other functions as may be assigned.

Immunology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Section

1. Assists in the formulation of plans and programs on fibercrops research and development agenda;

2. Prepares/reviews/evaluates fiber crop research proposals especially on molecular biology and biotechnology for funding by the Agency and other institutions.

3. Conducts/implements studies/projects in the areas of fibercrop molecular biology and biotechnology;

4. Maintains and operates the Immunology and Molecular Biology Laboratory;

5. Produces and distributes anti-sera and diagnostic kits to PhilFIDA diagnostic laboratories for  virus-indexing;

6. Facilitates the conduct of trainings for central and regional research personnel on molecular biology and biotechnology;

7. Assists in the field monitoring of activities and operations of the regional research units and facilities (experiment stations, tissue culture & diagnostic laboratories, sericulture and cotton centers);

8. Assists in the preparation and conduct of the In-House Fiber Crop Research Review and Planning Workshop;

9. Prepares technical reports and information materials;

10. Conducts On-the-Job training on Immunology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology for interested students;

11. Establishes and maintains linkages with SUCs and other R & D institutions in the areas of Immunology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology;

12. Coordinates with the regional research units and render technical guidance and services in the areas of molecular biology and biotechnology;

13. Extends technical assistance to clientele on fibercrop production;

14. Performs other functions as may be assigned.
