IMBL is located at GF Sunnymede IT Center, Quezon Ave., Quezon City, and is headed by Dr. Leny C. Galvez. It focuses on application of immunology and molecular biology principles for development of disease detection assays, variety identification markers and genetic improvement of abaca and other fiber crops. The laboratory collaborates with the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (NIMBB) of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman in implementing its research projects. The partnership has so far yielded to several published papers and numerous technologies that were deployed to service laboratories for disease indexing and planting material production throughout the country.
